Overview See everything in front of you without turning your head. The TrailKit 230° Wide-Beam Headlamp floods your entire field of view with 350 lumens of crisp light, plus a spotlight beam that reaches 300 feet. Motion-sensor activated, USB-C rechargeable, and only 2.3 ounces...

Overview Sleep warm without the bulk. The TrailKit 3-Season Sleeping Bag is rated for 30–60°F comfort, packs to the size of a melon, and weighs just 1.5 lbs. The envelope shape gives room to move, the waterproof shell sheds condensation, and the compression sack...

Our TakeAn air dome that genuinely fits a family of four with gear and a dog. We pumped it up in under four minutes, and the dome shape shrugged off a 25-knot gust during our test weekend. A great step up from pole tents.OverviewLohascamping's...

Our TakeFor families who want a tent up before the kids finish unpacking the car. This pop-open design springs to shape in seconds, and the rainproof shell has handled every passing squall we have thrown at it on weekend campouts.OverviewPop the top and this...

Our TakeSelf-inflating pads are the unsung luxury of car camping. The D03 unrolls, opens a valve, and does the work for you. At 5cm thick it is the difference between a decent night and a great one on hard ground.OverviewNo pump, no puffing -...

Our TakeTwo people, one pad, no rolling onto cold ground in the middle of the night. We like the extra width for car-camping comfort, and it still packs small enough to justify the cargo space. A repeat customer favorite.OverviewStretch out instead of rolling off...

Our TakeWe tested these on a 3-day section of the Appalachian Trail and kept forgetting they were in our hands. At 110g per pole, they are among the lightest carbon poles we have carried, and the folding design shrinks them small enough to vanish...

Our TakeA pair we reach for on day hikes and urban walks alike. The foldable linkage stows under a car seat, and the carbon shafts absorb enough trail buzz to keep our elbows quiet on long downhills. A solid everyday pole at a fair...

Our TakeThis is the tent we recommend for shoulder-season family trips. The inflatable beams go up fast, the stove jack lets you run a wood stove safely, and the 4-to-8-person space means nobody is crawling over each other at 2 AM.OverviewAn air-beam family basecamp...

Our TakeBig families, big tent, small effort. The pop-up frame means the tent is standing before the sleeping bags are out of the car. We tested the brown variant and found it stayed cooler in direct sun than darker colors.OverviewThrow it out and it...

Our TakeThe Mongar UL Pro is the tent we pack when weight matters but we refuse to squeeze into a coffin. At roughly a kilo per person for a 3-person trip, it hits a sweet spot that solo and duo trekkers both appreciate. The...

Our TakeA mummy-cut pad that saves weight without feeling like you are sleeping on a pool noodle. The quick-inflate valve works in about thirty breaths-equivalent of pumping, and the compact packed size fits the bottom of any pack.OverviewCut for a sleeping bag, this mummy-shaped...

Our TakeThe one-touch mechanism is genuinely one-touch, not the fiddly kind that takes three hands. The anti-UV coating makes this our pick for beach days and park picnics where shade is the whole point of the trip.OverviewSonuto's one-touch shelter springs up for three or...

Overview Sleep off the ground, away from bugs. The TrailKit Parachute Hammock is built from 210T high-strength nylon, with an integrated mosquito net that zips shut for full coverage. It holds 400 lbs, sets up in two minutes with the included tree straps, and...

Our TakeThe built-in foot pump is the feature we did not know we needed. No more huffing into a valve at the end of a long hike. The attached pillow means one less thing to pack, and the thickness is enough for side sleepers.OverviewSkip...

Our TakePioneer's quick-lock carbon pole covers a wide 115-135cm range, which means one pair fits everyone in our test group from 5'4" to 6'2". The single-pole design keeps it lighter than most two-pole sets at this price.OverviewPioneer's carbon poles cover 115-135cm of quick-lock adjustment,...

Our TakeThe quick-lock folding design means these go from packed to ready in about ten seconds. We appreciate the green UL variant on summer trails where every gram matters, and they have held up through a season of rocky New England scrambles.OverviewNaturehike's folding carbon...

Our TakeThe R-value alone sold us, but it was the packed size that sealed it. This pad rolls down to a Nalgene-sized bundle yet keeps you warm well below freezing. We carry it on winter day tours and multi-night ski trips.OverviewWarm when it counts,...

Our TakeWe fitted this to a RAV4 and a Tahoe during testing, and the canopy gave us a shaded cook-and-lounge zone at both ends. It packs flat, sets up in about five minutes, and sheds rain without pooling at the seams.OverviewTurn the back of...

Our TakeNaturehike's telescopic carbon pair is the pole we hand to friends who are new to the sport. The lock is intuitive, the weight is honest, and the red accent makes them easy to spot at a trailhead full of lookalikes.OverviewFrom a brand hikers...
